Horseback Riding

  • Horseback Riding

Saddle up at a sprawling dude ranch or trot along winding trails on a scenic guided horseback ride. Stunning landscapes and trusted trails make the Black Hills and Badlands the perfect place for horseback adventures.

GUIDED RIDES

Outfitters and guest ranches have a horse for you, or you can bring your own. Try Blue Bell Stables, Hurley Butte Horseback, Rockin’ R Trail Rides or Trail Rides at High Country Guest Ranch.

HORSE CAMPS

Horse camps throughout the region are a relaxing place to settle down with your horse after a day of riding. These campsites are designed specifically for horse campers, offering trailer parking, corrals, water and electricity.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Certified weed free hay is encouraged on all state park equestrian trails and campgrounds. It is required in Custer State Park, at equestrian campgrounds and at the horse camps at Sheps Canyon and Bear Butte. Have your horse’s travel papers in order. Make sure their Coggin’s and Health Certificate are up-to-date.
