Enjoy a very pleasant walk in the woods with a million dollar view from the top of the hill overlooking the scenic Cathedral Spires and Custer City, oldest town in the Black Hills.  There are a lot of steps on the way but the end of the trail is worth the effort.  The stair steps from the base of Big Rock to the top are approximately 55 steps with and elevation change of approximately 27 feet.  The trail provides many opportunities for photos so bring your camera.  Allow yourself at least 45 minutes for the trail if you’re in a hurry – longer if you plan to stop and smell the roses.  The trail is one-half mile round trip. See the Custer Visitor Center at 615 Washington St for more information.

Directions:

Trail starts at the south end of Sixth St. in Custer.
